Ambika Devi, a.k.a. Annette Johnston

Director of the Anahata School, Ambika Devi is wholly committed to the propagation of Yoga in a holistic, professional and nurturing manner.
A dynamic, creative and experienced International Teacher, who has practiced, and taught Yoga for some twenty years, gained certification here in the UK and during her many extended periods of intensive training in India. It was during one of these stay’s, under the direction of Swami Mahadevananda at the Sivananda Ashram in South India, that, through her steadfast pursuit of Yoga, Ambika Devi was honored with the title of Yoga Acharya (Master of Yoga, M.Y.)
Ambika Devi openheartedly shares this wealth of knowledge, presenting classical form and philosophy in a practical, enjoyable and digestible format. With great enthusiasm she cultivates thorough understanding and aims high in teaching standards, advocating no less than the training of Excellent Yoga Teachers.
Maggie McKeen
R.N., R.M., R.H.V., BSc., Dip. Y.T., A.S.Y. Dip., RYT
One of the founder members of the Anahata School, Maggie first discovered Yoga as a student nurse in the early 70’s. She has been a long-term advocate for the integration of complementary approaches to health within the NHS.
As well as Teaching regular Yoga classes, Maggie teaches Pregnancy Yoga and therapeutic classes to the unfit and elderly.
Maggie has gained wide professional experience and appraisal as a Yoga Therapist, nurse, midwife, health visitor, manager, and facilitator.
With a particular interest in the therapeutic aspects of Yoga, Maggie studied the therapeutic effects of Yoga with the Yoga Biomedical Trust. In true scholarly style she also continues her study in pursuit of deepening understanding of Classical practices.
Maggie brings her professional, approach and experience to her role as an Anahata Anatomy & Physiology Tutor. Fostering an integrated, holistic medium, Maggie applies both western and eastern dialogues in her presentations, developing and furthering the awareness of the Anatomy of Yoga and Yoga Asana.
Tony Young (also known as 'Narad')
BA MA Oxon

Tony is a Singer-Songwriter, Pianist, Biologist and Teacher who brings alive an experience of the power of sound to heal and align ourselves at many levels. Through his music, he has a unique ability to reach the hearts of his listeners. Tony also benefits from experience in the fields of Shiatsu & Yoga,
After studying Biology at Oxford, where he wrote, produced and performed 2 original musicals, Tony subsequently worked alongside 'musical guru' Stephen Sondheim as personal assistant during his term as Cameron Mackintosh Professor of Contemporary Theatre.
Since then whilst still writing and teaching, he has traveled widely, learning from a variety of musical and spiritual traditions, improving his knowledge and understanding of healing prayer, mantra, raga, bhajans & meditation.
He currently tours around the world giving workshops, concerts and retreats to promote peace and well-being, inside & out. Spiritual retreats in Wales and Belgium, Pilgrimages to explore the Life of St Francis in Italy and many workshops based around his experience in working with music and the field of Nada Yoga - the yoga of sound.
Narad leads the Anahata School of Yoga residential Training weekends on Holy Island Through movement, mantra, and meditation, he catalyses a return to the centre and helps us feel the presence of paradise here and now, within our own hearts...increasing self-esteem, balance and happiness.
In his spare time, Tony works on a voluntary basis to raise awareness and funds for The Centre for Peacemaking & Community Development a Quaker-based NGO which works to prevent and resolve the trauma of war through humanitarian and educational projects. He also participates in many fund-raising musical and peace events for specific projects, which in recent months included the Tsunami aid work in Sumatra and a private orphanage in India.
